Kayne Opened The Door For Me

Kayne West and his jackassery have opened the door for me to talk about something that probably is little discussed amongst the trash-talk and ridiculous defenders of West. As a fan of his music, and someone who knew his name before this little stunt, I feel I should take a short walk into both the true motives of Kayne’s interruption and the belly of the beast called “modern culture.”

The first of Kayne West’s secret motives for jumping up on stage like a Joe Wilson-wannabe was to try and get into Beyonce’s pants. And he failed. Because like myself she was offended by his actions and gave Taylor her moment back after big-bad Kayne took it away. Beyonce is all class.

The second secret motive was fighting what might be called a ‘vast rightwing conspiracy‘ of mixing of country music / Disney Enterprises with rap music / MTV Enterprises. I doubt Kayne West would ever use that language, but I contend that this was probably why he actually did it.

At least in his view, mine too most likely if I ever watch both videos, this was a bone thrown to the growing country music audience in the younger generation.

It’s like teenagerist culture wars hiding underneath the surface of the VMAs.

The final secret motive was what I already said at the top of the blog: this was a stunt. Probably not a planned stunt but a stunt none the less. The more arrogant and over-the-top he is, the more records he is likely to sell.

Name of the game.

I like to hear that the president has my back on the issue. At least on the first part with the jackassery, anyway.

I do not fully subscribe to Steinem’s logic that women are uncorrupted by power. I believe absolute power corrupts absolutely, with no exceptions. However, it may very well be true in the time the words were first spoken that if the so dubbed ‘masculine mystique’ were removed from the scenario that many atrocities committed in Vietnam might have been averted.

The greater issue, in my mind, is always resources and the means of production. Such matters supersede the confines of gender and gender roles. I am, however, quite willing to commit to the idea that if only women were allowed to hold administrative offices that there would indeed be far less warfare in the world as a whole.

Ultimately, there would be no end to wars and subjugation of one over the other. I envision a world of more practical wars and even more decisive moves than those we see in leaders both of the past and today. The War Machine would continue, but take a form it has known before. A much more humble machine.

This Machine Kills Fascists: Woody Guthrie

And I aims to kill me some fascists. Got this here on the dime of Uncle Sam.

Fellow named George W. Bush gave little old me a check and here we are.

Do believe I have heard a talker or two call Mr. Bush a fascist. That I do recall hearin’ of this man.

But ain’t no fascist alive that let’s his power slip. Not no how, no way.

Them two fellers Obama and Bush did a just dandy job and handin’ over the reigns of Lady Liberty from one to another.

Here in the good ol’ US of A we still have a fondness of old fashioned democracy. Letting the folks decide.

Woody Guthrie was a singer and songwriter who came of age in Oklahoma as the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression all but destroyed the homes and lives of many of those around him.
